Dr Lovelace`s soap!…

I`m working on a project with Cartwheel Arts, where i`ll be working with a local high school on a book project starting soon. I had the opportunity to explore Rochdale archive to gather inspiration for the project…i started looking through the Rochdale Observer in the 1920s and found the most beautiful adverts….i couldn`t help laughing at the wording…

Pattern design and laser cutting in Clitheoe…

We finished our circular patterns…we`re not sure entirely how we will use these maybe to create a three- dimensional card or picture…

We carried on working on our beak books….

We designed bookmarks taking inspiration from this one i found at a heritage venue….

Here is one of the designs….we`re going to get all the bookmark designs cut out of walnut…

Stretford print finishers…

In my role as Arts and Health Officer for Blackpool Arts Service, artist Philip Davenport has been working with my Arts for Health groups to create a beautiful book, which will include the groups` images, stories and poetry, which all link to the beautiful Blackpool archive. Friday was sooo exciting as we went to Stretford print finishers, where the books will be bound and foil block printed….

We chose the cloth we want to use….

and decided we wanted our book to look old fashioned with gold foil block lettering on the front and spine.

Pattern design and laser cutting in Clitheroe…

I always come away from this workshop feeling really relaxed…i think it`s the creativity and concentration that happens.

Some of the group finished these beautiful circular designs, these designs will be useful later….

We used the artist book above as inspiration and started to make our own books….we`ll  design ones to be laser cut too..
