It`s starting to take shape now! It has taken a while to work out how best to work on it, but finally I hung it from my studio ceiling and it started to get so much easier to make progress. The window it is going to be hung in front of is massive, so I still have a lot to do! I want there to be elements that look like stained glass too.
It looks like the exhibition planned for June is going to be pushed back to August thanks to a certain virus! I am hoping this extra time will give me the opportunity to push my ideas further!
Just before everything got crazy I was lucky enough to deliver a workshop to some lovely creative children at All Saints Primary School near Bolton…
They were so inspired by Bolton Museums` amazing natural collection…and produced some wonderful designs. We designed a tear drop shape using the collections and then created pin pricks in our designs. A lot of the children found the pin pricking really relaxing…..I must say I do as well.
It was such a lovely sunny day, so we went outside and lay their designs in a Mandala formation on the grass. They are pictured here at home, as it was a little windy! We all had a chance to say what we liked about a design. What an amazingly creative and relaxing morning! I can`t wait to see these beautiful designs as part of the laser cut Mandala. Thanks to their amazing teacher for all your support too.
I had such a lovely day at Belmont primary school last week…whilst it snowed outside amazing creativity happened inside! Thanks to all the lovely staff who helped I was so impressed by the childrens` concentration and creativity.
We used Bolton Museums` amazing collection of shells and butterflies as inspiration for our designs and look at the designs that were created! WOWEEE!
All these beautiful designs will make up a community mandala…I can`t wait to see what they all look like once they are laser cut.
